ALBANY COUNTY — Several skunks and raccoons with distemper, a contagious and serious disease, have been found in Albany, according to the Albany Police Department, which is urging residents to make sure their dogs are up to date on their canine distemper vaccinations.
GUILDERLAND — Guilderhaven will be attending the Guilderland Farmers Market, at the intersection of routes 155 and 20, on Sundays, Sept. 8 and 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Catherine Ricchetti offers training sessions, which are “raved over,” for professionals across the state on how they can start their own service-dog programs, said a spokeswoman for the organization that honored her.
Gail Mirabella will be performing with her dogs at the Altamont Fair this week. Traveling across the country with 19 canine companions, she says that any dog can be taught a new trick.
A Dog Day Celebration, held in the Knox town park on Saturday, July 22, brought together dog owners in Knox and surrounding areas to vaccinate and register their dogs, as well as participate in activities held by the town.
KNOX — A Dog Day Celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, rain or shine, at the Knox Town Park, behind the town hall, on the Berne-Altamont Road.
A Westerlo woman has been charged by the Albany County Sheriff’s Office with animal cruelty. The 64-year-old woman reportedly had over 100 animals living on her property in what police described as “deplorable conditions.”
