With increased costs for the water district, garbage removal, and other expenses looming, the 2019 preliminary budget for the town of Westerlo stays under the state-set tax cap but increases by over $100,000.

Daniel McCoy’s 2019 proposed budget for Albany County is up $21 million from last year, but stays under the state-set levy limit and doesn’t increase taxes.

An average Guilderland homeowner will see a $103 annual increase in school taxes if a $43M district project passes.

The school district’s budget includes several items added Tuesday by the school board — after contentious debate — without public discussion.

VOORHEESVILLE — The Voorheesville Library Board of Trustees will vote to adopt a budget for next year at its April 23 meeting. The proposed $1.18 million spending plan is up about $8,000, less than 1 percent, from this year.

If adopted by the board, residents would then vote on May 15 to approve the budget.

The board of education adopted a $24.7 million budget for next year, and, on May 15, residents in the Voorheesville Central School District will vote to whether or not to accept it as well deciding on a $7.7 million capital project, a new capital reserve fund, and two seats on the board of education.

The state budget left the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School District with an additional $97,000 to spend, said the superintendent.

The proposal is increased 29-percent from this year’s budget, which is due largely to a sidewalk capital project.

Guilderland’s $100.7 million school budget proposal closes a $1.6 million gap partly by using $930,000 from the district’s fund balance.

On Feb. 12, the Voorheesville Board of Education was presented with the district’s first draft of next year’s budget for $24,759,000.
