National Orienteering week is approaching

On Sept. 21, the Empire Orienteering Club will be hosting a local event in celebration of National Orienteering Week.

Orienteering USA clubs throughout the country will be hosting special newcomer events. These events are aimed at introducing orienteering to the public. There will be a range of beginner to advanced courses, along with free instruction at each of these events. 

Empire Orienteering Club will be hosting an event at Hop Field, Thacher State Park, Voorheesville, at 10 a.m. on Sept. 21.

Orienteering is a race in wilderness navigation where a person uses a map and a compass to complete a course. This is an easy sport to learn, a great team building activity, and ideal for families who enjoy the outdoors.
