Everyone’s yelling about health care, but no one cares about the reality
To the Editor:
A few years ago, some of you may remember, we in Westerlo had the same problem as Dr. Hedy Migden’s patients are having now with a doctor leaving. A group of us fought St. Peter’s to give us at least six months to get another doctor in place. They would have none of it.
They said they were losing $187 per year on our facility. They had just received $300,000 from the feds. Whatever happened to Catholic charities? Finally a doctor was found and has been here since then.
We contacted our senators, other legislators, Hillary Clinton, and St. Peter’s. None of them cared even though there are people living across the street from the doctor’s office so they can get their care.
And when asked about it, our town supervisor said, “This is not Appalachia; they can go to Albany.”
Good luck to Dr. Migden and her patients. Everyone is yelling about care, but no one seems to care about the reality of it.
