I’m afraid we will never see the likes of Dr. Migden again
To the Editor:
I am angry. I am confused. I am worried. It has been many weeks now since St. Peter’s Trinity Health fired Hedy Migden. It was only when I called for an appointment that I learned that Dr. Migden had been fired.
Our health system is really in trouble if the medical establishment is firing doctors like Hedy Migden. Like a lot of others, I have been a patient of hers for many years. When she moved, I followed.
She is the doctor everyone hopes they get when they have to find a doctor. She is a good listener; you never felt rushed through a visit. If you were hospitalized for any reason, she was at your bedside the next day.
When you told her why you were there, she ordered tests she thought necessary to shed light on your problem. She brought in other specialists to confer with me. She took such good care of you, you almost felt related.
She often called me at 8 or 9 o’clock at night to give me test results. Families that she served have attested to the concern and care she gave them. In every way, she went out of her way.
Our local medical schools that train doctors should have sent interns to learn from her what it means to be a general practitioner. I am afraid we will never see the likes of her again.
Unfortunately, times are changing and more hospitals and medical centers are being taken over by for-profit companies where the bottom line is not quality patient care. Health care in this country has become a battleground and we have lost our anchor.
Hedy’s patient records have been sent to Adirondack Records Management. If your new doctor has not received your records yet, the number to call is 456-3377.
