Come to the Voorheesville library for our annual book sale — and much more
To the Editor:
Books! Music! Magic! Fine crafts! Raffle items! Clothing! Exercise! Pets! You can enjoy all of this during the Friends of the Voorheesville Public Library’s Book Sale weekend, Sept. 16, 17, and 18.
The Friends of the Voorheesville Public Library has been working hard to bring our local and greater community Encore!, our used book shed which is now open each Tuesday. The fantastic Encore! volunteers have put many hours into receiving, sorting, organizing, and otherwise getting the books ready for sale.
The Friends of VPL raises funds to support programs and purchase equipment to enhance the library’s offerings to the community. We support 100 percent of the Summer Reading Program, and we brought the Steve Songs concert to the community in June to kick it off right. We support adult reading programs (fiction and nonfiction), author visits, and many other special programs that could not occur without Friends’ support.
We are now working hard preparing for our annual book sale, which is scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 16, 17, and 18. Friday, the 16th, is members’ day and we will be open at 2 p.m. this year to be convenient for teachers and others on Friday afternoon. We’ll be open Friday until 8 p.m. On Saturday, we’ll be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and we’ll have our bake sale open as well. On Sunday, we’ll offer a $2 per bag of books deal — and we’re open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The book sale weekend will be more than the books though — our local Nimblefingers needlework group will do their sale all three days, and Saturday and Sunday will feature In Orbit Live Music. Saturday we will have the Kids’ Clothing swap from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Jackie the Magician will be doing balloon tricks from 1 to 3 p.m. On Sunday, the Village Animal Clinic will have its 5K beginning at 10 a.m. (register by 9 a.m.).
Join us for it all on Sept. 16, 17, and 18!
Hope to see you there.
