Knox School 12 was moved from the Bozenkill along with its outhouse, to the right, to the Altamont fairgrounds in 1967. Axton and Slade Pulliam, whose family members attended the school, have produced a documentary about it.

To the Editor:

For many visitors to the Altamont Fair, a stop at the Little Red Schoolhouse on the fairgrounds is a “must do.”  The Knox Historical Society is very proud that the schoolhouse on the fairgrounds is from Knox District 12.

It was moved from Quay Road to the fairgrounds in the late 1960s.  Many members of the Pulliam family attended school there.

Axton and Slade Pulliam have been interviewing these family members and, also, one of their teachers, Betty Spadaro. They have produced a short documentary, which they will present at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Knox Town Hall, 2192 Berne-Altamont Road (Route 156), prior to the regular meeting of the Knox Historical Society.

The public is invited to attend this free event, and take a trip down memory lane as the stories of School 12 come to life once again.  We hope these stories will enhance your visit to the Little Red Schoolhouse during the upcoming Altamont Fair!
