The past few months have been busy for Helderberg Ambulance and June was no different. There were 45 calls this month and 22 were transports to local hospitals.  Of the 22 transports, 18 were trauma. There were 26 calls in the town of Berne, 13 calls in the town of Knox, and six calls for other agencies.

Last month we awarded a scholarship to Cheyene Duncan, not Savannah. Sorry about that, Cheyene. We wish you all the best as you begin studying at college.

Each ambulance squad has a medical director and the members of Helderberg Ambulance said goodbye to our current medical director.  Dr. Tiff Bombard will be moving north where she will work in the emergency room at Plattsburgh Hospital.

Dr. Bombard has been working at Albany Medical Center and has been with the squad for many years. She rode with the squad as a paramedic while she attended school.  We will miss you and your guidance.  Good luck in your new job.

Once a year the members of the squad get together and have a cleanup day. This day is held in June and it always seems to be one of the hottest days of the summer. The members clean the ambulance and sanitize every piece of equipment, power-wash the siding, weed the flower beds, and do a spring cleaning on the inside of the building. Thanks to all who helped out.

Helderberg Ambulance received a request from Berne-Knox-Westerlo to stand by at the football games in September.  Stop by and watch the games and visit with the squad.

The ambulance will also be at the Woodstock Family Fun Day on Aug. 13 at Camp Woodstock.

We welcome new members. Our meeting is the second Thursday of each month beginning at 7.
