Police say Cartwright’s 911 call led to his arrest

Dana J. Cartwright

The 911 call in a recent domestic violence incident that led to a felony strangulation charge for a Guilderland resident  was made by the accused himself, said Trooper Mark Cepiel, public information officer with the New York State Police.

Dana J. Cartwright called police late in the evening of Sunday, April 24, and was arrested by State Troopers in Duanesburg in the early morning of April 25.

“He claimed injury as well,” said Cepiel.

Troopers say that Cartwright choked his ex-girlfriend into unconsciousness, punched her, and held her to the ground, said Cepiel.

In addition to second-degree strangulation, Cartwright was charged with third-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, and unlawful imprisonment, all misdemeanors, said Cepiel.

The victim was transported to the hospital for her injuries. Cartwright was not treated for any injuries, Cepiel said; he was processed at the Princetown barracks and remanded to Schenectady County’s jail on $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond. He appeared in  Duanesburg Town Court on April 27, and his case was rescheduled to a later date, according to the court clerk.
