Margit S. Cook

Margit S. Cook’s “most joyous years,” her family wrote, “were spent raising her children and being with her family.”

She died on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at her home in Hilton Head, South Carolina. She was 74.

Mrs. Cook was born on Aug. 25, 1941, in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Herman T. Kaasa and Winifred Daly Kaasa. She was raised in Altamont, in the Kaasa Home on Lincoln Avenue, and was a member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church in the village.

She graduated from Guilderland High School in 1959 and then studied early education at Wittenberg College.

Mrs. Cook later lived in Worthington, Ohio.

While living in Hilton Head, she was a member of the Palmetto Quilt Guild and loved going to the beach.

Mrs. Cook is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Bradford Cook; her son, J.R. Wilson and his wife, Lisa, of Zimmerman, Minnesota; her daughters, Lori Reisinger and her husband, Joe, of Urbana, Ohio, Stacy Havens and her husband, Tim, of Washington Court House, Ohio, Kristen Combs and her husband, Christopher, of Portland, Oregon, and Sharon Northup and her husband, Christopher, of Dublin, Ohio.

She is also survived by her sisters, Karen Davis and her husband, Robert, of Northport, New York, and Ellen Zerillo and her husband, Ed, of Glastonbury, Connecticut; her brother, John Kaasa and his wife, Rosemary, of Atlanta, Georgia; and 17 grandchildren.

A celebration of life will take place in Ohio at a later date. Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, South Carolina is assisting the family.
