Marjorie L. Shultes

Marjorie L. Shultes — a loving wife, mother, and Grammie — died on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Kingsway Manor Nursing Center. She was 87.

“Margie loved everyone,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She was a graduate of Berne-Knox-Westerlo, and Mildred Elley in Albany. She worked for New York state for a brief time, then took a break to start her family.

“Then briefly scooping ice cream at 3-Farms Dairy, she then started driving a school bus for BKW. After retiring 33 years later, she began substitute driving for the Guilderland schools. She loved seeing all the kids and watching them grow and succeed.

“She was a life member of the Berne Reformed Church where all are family. Margie was also a life member of the Berne Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and also the Foxenkill Grange.”

Marjorie L. Shultes is survived by her children, Vickie (Michael) Snyder and Ron (Gabrielle) Shultes — all of Berne; two granddaughters, Nicole (Scott) Carroll and Brittney Shultes (boyfriend John); and two great-grandchildren, Ella and Kase Carroll.

She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Art Shultes, and sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Albert) Tedeschi, and by many loving and kind nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Her loving husband of 50 years, Raymond Shultes Jr., died before her, as did her parents, Daniel and Ada Lendrum, and her brothers, Frederick (Jeanette) and Harold (Arlene) Lendrum.

“A special mention should be made about her fun-loving friends Shirley, Peggy, and Martha who always had time for each other, and a trip or two or three to Burger King in Guilderland, where they were treated like queens,” her family wrote. “And also special mention of the loving, expert care that she received from the staff of Kingsway.”

Visitation will be held at the Berne Reformed Church from 11a.m. to 1p.m. on Friday, April 24. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Berne.
