School named for Kathleen Grimm

A school in New York City has been named after Kathleen Grimm, the sister of former town board member and current county legislature candidate Mark Grimm.

Ms. Grimm, who died in February, served as deputy chancellor of the city’s education department for 13 years.

The New York City school is designated as a “net zero energy” school, meaning it will produce as much energy as it uses. It has more than 2,000 solar panels and an energy-efficient structure and equipment.

Mr. Grimm spoke at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, on Oct. 22, on behalf of his family.

“We take comfort in knowing her legacy will be marked by both bricks and mortar and by the great achievements of the children who will attend this remarkable school,” he said.
