Harold N. Eck

UNIONVILLE — Harold N. Eck was a husband and father who enjoyed camping and dancing. He died on June 13, 2015. He was 87.

Mr. Eck was born on Jan. 30, 1928 in West New York, New Jersey, to Harold and Helen Eck (née Kipp). He married his wife, Shirley Eck (née Jennings), in 1973.

Mr. Eck proudly served in the United States Coast Guard.

He was a truck driver for Barber & Bennett Feed Company in Albany. While in New York, Mr. Eck was a member of the Unionville Dutch Reformed Church.

In 1996, Mr. and Mrs. Eck moved to Florida, where he became a member of the Belleview United Methodist Church.

Mr. Eck enjoyed bowling, playing golf, square dancing, and camping.

Mr. Eck is survived by his wife, Shirley Eck, of Belleview, Florida; his first wife, Pat Burnett, and their three daughters, Lois VanDyke, Vivian Amsler, and Sharon Mattot; his brothers, Clyde, Archie, and Eddie Eck; his sisters, Helen and Louise Eck; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

His daughter, Sandy Vincent, died before him.

A memorial service will be held at Unionville Dutch Reformed Church on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m. A time of fellowship and refreshment will take place immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
