GHS tennis team has smarts

GUILDERLAND — For the third time in four years, the Guilderland High School Boys’ Tennis team has been named the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete State Champions, with a team average of 98.4 percent.
At a ceremony on June 22, NYSPHSAA presented the team with a banner, recognizing its achievements this season. This season, the team won its third Section 2 title in a row.

“This is an incredibly special group of guys. To have the ability to excel on the courts and in the classroom the way they did is phenomenal. Winning the Section 2 title for the third straight year, during a 42-game winning streak, and to also go on to win the NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete team award definitely shows how hard they’ve worked,” said head coach Curtis Snyder in a release from the district.

    VOORHEESVILLE — Two Voorheesville 8-year-olds — Maxwell Mallinson and Camron Kremer — have qualified to participate in a Professional Golfers’ Association Aug. 20 competition at Turningstone where they will compete with the best junior golfers in upstate New York.
