The Hilltowns have been alive with activism, community, and strength

To the Editor:

My name is Kate Martin and I am a lifelong resident of the Albany County Hilltowns, including Berne, Knox, Westerlo, Medusa, and Rensselaerville (as well as the outskirts of Greenville, Middleburgh, Altamont, etc.).

In recent months, despite our lower population size and relative rural development, the Hilltowns have been alive with activism, community, and strength.

In particular, a group called “Hilltown Voices For Democracy” started in October to organize the last Hilltowns No Kings March. With just two weeks of planning, we hosted the October march, which had an estimated 150 people present …

Since then, we have organized multiple community meetups with each having over 30 people in attendance and we have grown our social media presence — Facebook (Hilltown Voices for Democracy) and Instagram (http://instagram.com/nyhilltowners). We have lots more coming soon!

We are holding another Hilltowns No Kings event, on Saturday, March 28, at 1 p.m. at the Rensselaerville Town Park and you are invited to join us.
