State Police: Drunk driver had two children in his car
NEW SCOTLAND — A Clarksville man was charged on Sept. 27 under Leandra’s Law.
He was stopped at about 10:30 p.m. on Interstate 787 in Albany for a traffic violation, according to a release from State Police and had two children under the age of 15 in the car.
Scott McKnight, 35, was charged with two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated, known as Leandra’s Law; two counts of endangering the welfare of a child; and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
He was taken to the State Police New Scotland station where he recorded a blood alcohol content of 0.11 percent; the legal limit to drive is 0.08 percent.
McKnight was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Albany City Court on Oct. 10, and released to a sober party.
The two children were released to a family member.
