Mary Jean Healey

VOORHEESVILLE — Mary Jean “Jean” Healey of Voorheesville, a physical-education teacher and sports referee, died on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025. She was 90.

“A Cortland University graduate and longtime physical-education teacher in Columbia High School and high school sports referee in the Albany area,” her friends wrote in a tribute, “Jean also owned and operated the King’s Krest restaurant in the Helderbergs for many years.

“She cherished her garden, her orange cats, and lively discussions about sports. She was also a familiar face at the Saratoga racetrack where she was a long-time pari-mutuel clerk. Jean will be fondly remembered by her many friends and neighbors.”

A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date and shared with friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to a local animal shelter or humane society.
