Keep our community safe by registering your dog

To the Editor:

To license your dog in the town of New Scotland, please visit the town clerk’s office.

If your dog has been spayed or neutered, you’ll need to provide a certificate from a licensed veterinarian as proof. This only needs to be submitted once.

All dogs aged 4 months and older must also have proof of a current rabies vaccination, signed by a licensed veterinarian. If your dog cannot receive the vaccine for medical reasons, a certificate from a veterinarian is required.

License fees are as follows:

— Spayed or neutered dog: $5.50; and

— Not spayed or neutered: $15.50.

There is no license fee for guide dogs, war dogs, hearing dogs, police dogs, or service dogs.

Renewal notices will be mailed to dog owners the month before their license expires. If you do not receive your renewal paperwork, please contact the town clerk’s office at 518-439-4865.

Thank you for your help in keeping our community safe and pets registered!
