I hope we can be united by shared values of democracy and freedom

To the Editor:

On No Kings Day, June 14, 2025, I joined Joan Storey for the honk-and-wave action featured in the June 19 edition of the paper [“On No Kings Day, Storey says, ‘We have to find strength through each other’”].

I am grateful to Joan for rallying her neighbors out to our busy intersection, and was even more gratified to learn that someone from an Indivisible chapter in a neighboring county hosted a honk-and-wave action in front of the Guilderland Public Library that same evening, with a sizable turnout!

I know that our neighbors in Guilderland, Altamont, and the surrounding Hilltowns have concerns about the future of democracy that transcend political beliefs and it is my hope that we can be united by shared values of democracy and freedom.

To that end, I am happy to announce that Guilderland now has its own Indivisible chapter. Anyone interested in joining or staying informed on future actions can visit https://guilderlandindivisible.wordpress.com
