Fire kills ticks

Thirteen acres in Guilderland’s part of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve were burned on Sept. 5 to help prevent the spread of invasive species and reduce the potential for wildfires. John Brower says prescribed burns also kill ticks.

To the Editor:

I would like to add one important benefit to the prescribed burns conducted in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve.

It eliminates the ticks in that area.

I remember one time taking our dog for a walk and, in less than 100 feet, his face was covered with ticks.
