80th Punkintown Fair honors veterans

To the Editor:
Save the dates: This July marks the 80th Annual Punkintown Fair! The fair is a family-oriented event that has been organized by the New Salem Volunteer Fire Department since 1942.

This year’s fair will be held on July 18, 19, and 20 at the fairgrounds across from the New Salem firehouse at 694 New Salem Road (Route 85A). As always, parking and admission are free, and the food is fantastic!

As a community on opening night, all veterans, the men and women who served honorably on active duty or are currently serving in the armed forces, along with remembering our fellow Americans who have paid the ultimate sacrifice all of which are so deserving of our recognition, respect, and gratitude, will be honored.

If you are a family member or friend, please help us honor the veteran in your life and escort them to the fair on Thursday, July 18, beginning promptly at 6 p.m. and meet at the announcer’s booth.

The sponsors for the 2024 fair are Ayers Automotive, Ballston Spa National Bank, Carl’s Advance Automotive and Repair Center, Family Danz Heating and Cooling, and Rentals To Go. Sponsoring fireworks the last night of the fair is Jimco Painting.

This year’s raffle includes cash prizes of $2,000 for first prize, $1,000 for second prize, and $500 for our third-prize winner. There will also be several additional prizes added to the drawing this year with the support of New Salem’s Auxiliary members and the community.
