Blackbirds Bike Café, at 43 South Main Street in Voorheesville, has announced an opening day of Wednesday, May 29.

VOORHEESVILLE — The long-in-the-works Blackbirds Bike Café on South Main Street in Voorheesville is set to open May 29.

But attendees of Voorheesville’s Memorial Day Parade will be able to get a “sneak preview” of the shop this Saturday, May 25, according to a release from the not-for-profit behind the venture.

The café, owned by village native Ed Mitzen’s Business for Good, will have regular hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., save for Tuesdays, when it will be closed.

The shop “will operate an all-day menu that includes pastries, coffee, sandwiches, soup and salads,” according to the release, while also offering smoothies and açai bowls.

The café’s launch is part of a larger Business for Good project that includes Blackbirds Tavern, located across from the coffee shop, at 42 South Main Street, which is slated for a summer opening, the not-for-profit previously said.

The café’s full menu will not be available during its Memorial Day event, the release stated; rather “staff will be selling coffee, lemonade, iced tea and sugar cookies to parade goers.”
