Weed, mulch, and meet your neighbors
To the Editor:
“The sun’ll come out tomorrow,” sings Little Orphan Annie.
And it does, even though this spring it’s been obscured by clouds and “eclipsed.”
Now, while we’re thankful for the rain that the green needs to grow, we’re looking forward to some sunshine “totality” days this spring, one of which we hope will land on April 27. That’s the Saturday Altamont Community Tradition will be holding the annual “Green and Clean.”
Once again, we invite our friends and neighbors to come out for the morning and join in sprucing up our parks and streets and getting ready for a season outside.
It’s a great way to spend time in the sunshine, weeding, mulching, and meeting your neighbors. Come on out — we’ll provide garden waste bags and coffee. Just bring your garden gloves and favorite gardening tools.
Keith Lee, who regularly volunteers his time creating and maintaining many of the public green spaces around the village, will be coordinating our efforts.
We’ll be starting at 9 a.m. on April 27 in Orsini Park, usually finishing around noon. For more information and a signup sheet go to www.altamontcommunitytradition. You don’t have to sign up first, just show up. We’d love to see you.
