In Memory of Robert Lawyer Sr.

In Memory of Robert Lawyer Sr.

April 9, 1927 - March 2, 2004

It’s so hard to believe how fast the last 20 years have gone by. The last time I touched your hands, it didn’t seem that long ago.

The day you died, all the pain and suffering went away. It was a blessing and a peaceful day for you.

There’s hardly a day that goes by without thinking of you and all I miss we did together. As in all the stock-car races, all the shuffleboard games we played at Township Tavern, all the bowling we did, and the “fuck ’em” strikes you had, all the grass you mowed –  and I did the weed whacking – all the ponds we dug together, all the septics we installed and fixed, all the foundations we dug. All the wood we cut, all the snow we plowed, all the fun we had as a father and son, all the beer we drank, having all that fun, all the funerals we went to together.

I miss “all” those things we did together as a father and son should and as two friends would.

I know I can’t wish you back on this rock we are spinning around, because I think you and Mom would be resting so sound.

I hope you and Mother are enjoying each other in eternity after death, as I know you loved one another very much in life.

I could only hope you and Mom, loved ones, friends, are enjoying one big round and square dance, kicking up your heels, hooting and hollering. I know you loved living life, so wherever your soul is at, I hope you’re enjoying your eternity resting spot as much.

P.S. I might not be able to touch you physically, but I will never forget you mentally.

Love, Jim
