Seeking breakdown of state test data

To the Editor:
On Nov. 7, 2023, a Guilderland Elementary School parent gave public comment during the Guilderland School Board meeting [“School board takes action on CARES audit,” The Altamont Enterprise, Nov. 14, 2023].

The parent asked the district leaders for school resources to support first and second grades because of teachers lacking teaching assistants in the classroom, teachers leaving, above average time with subs.

The parent said, “Almost three quarters of that same group is now in this specific section of the second grade class except now … the class size has almost doubled.”

Would The Altamont Enterprise be able to help us by breaking down the newly released state testing results on the 2023 Algebra II Regents Exam … to tell us which elementary schools in our district did the Guilderland students attend?

Christine Duffy

Guilderland

Editor’s note: Algebra II is typically taken in the 11th grade so the 15 Guilderland Elementary students that Alexandra Nitti raised concerns about last November wouldn’t be tested on that for nine years.
