Matt Krysak and Amie Burnside support first responders

To the Editor:
My wife and I are voters in the town of Westerlo and we fully support Matt Kryzak and Amie Burnside.[“Westerlo Town Board candidates face off: a 3-way race for supervisor while 4 vie for 2 council seats,” The Altamont Enterprise, Oct. 14, 2023].

As first responders in the town, we can honestly say they do more for us than any prior administrations have; they go above and beyond to help support us. I’m not just talking financially, but physically also. They have a lot of support from our fellow volunteers too.

On a more personal note, they are very caring. I received phone calls to see if I was OK and needed anything when my first wife was dying of cancer. (Being a heart patient myself, that meant a lot to me, and I let my neighbors know that they are caring people.)

I am also a trustee for the Westerlo Rural Cemetery, and they’ve been there to help with that too. I’m very concerned about what may happen to our volunteering community if they aren’t re-elected.

Before they were voted in, we almost had a mutiny with our highway employees, and with them in place everything seems to be working out.
