Lexus crashes into bank, Passat flips over and ejects driver

GUILDERLAND — On Monday, Oct. 30, Guilderland Police responded to two car crashes on Route 20 within an hour of each other.

The first, at 11:48 a.m. involved an 84-year-old Schenectady man, Michael Macaione, who drove his 2004 Lexus into the Chase Bank at 2027 Western Ave.

Macaione, according to a release from the Guilderland Police, said “he attempted to brake when his foot slipped onto the accelerator causing the vehicle to crash into the building.” There were no injuries and no tickets were issued.

The second, at 12:42 p.m., involved a 27-year-old Guilderland man, Noah L. Crawford of 2515 Western Ave., who, police say, was traveling east in a 2017 Volkswagen Passat and had just passed another vehicle when he lost control of his car. His car flipped over and he was ejected.

No other vehicles were involved. Crawford was taken by Guilderland EMS to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash,” the release said. “However imprudent speed does appear to be a factor.” The crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.
