ALTAMONT — Wayne Dominick Donato of Altamont, a family man who was passionate about farm machinery, died with his loving family by his side on Sunday, July 2, 2023, following a long illness. He was 57.

Born Sept. 16, 1965, he was the son of the late Louis Sr. and Mary (née Eck) Donato and the beloved husband of Amy Donato.

“Wayne was a graduate of Voorheesville’s high school, and a retiree of the New York State Department of Health,” his family wrote in a tribute. “Passionate about farming machinery and working alongside his late brother, Bill, Wayne could be found spending time in the Altamont Fair Farm Museum.

“Wayne was a long-time member of the Hudson Mohawk Chapter of the Pioneer Gas Engine Association. Above all, Wayne will be remembered as a family man, spending time with his family which he so greatly enjoyed.”

Wayne Dominick Donato is survived by his wife, Amy; his daughter, Hailee; his stepchildren, Chelsea, Carly (John) and Andrew. He was the beloved “Pa” to Allison, Johnny, Julian, and Chloe.

He is also survived by his siblings, Susan Marie (Al), John (Joyce), Pete, Pat, and Jerry (Karen), and his sisters-in-law, Carol, Louise, Carol, Sue, and Linda.

His parents, Louis Sr. and Mary (née Eck) Donato, died before him, as did his brothers, Louis Jr., Nick, Bill (Rita), Joe, and Tom.

Family and Friends are invited to visit his family at the Fredendall Funeral Home at 199 Main Street in Altamont on Friday, July 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, July 8, at 11 a.m., immediately followed by interment in Fairview Cemetery in Altamont.
