To the Editor:

I’m addressing this letter to the Berne town supervisor.

Dear Dennis Palow —

I woke up thinking we lived in a fairly open, democratic society.

But your treatment of a fellow citizen recently at a public meeting has disabused me of that.

Now I realize that a one-party system, similar to the old USSR and current Russia (and miscellaneous authoritarian-ruled countries), has taken hold and is possibly spreading in these United States — surprisingly right in my backyard!

Thanks for the enlightenment.

P.S. Don’t forget to pay the utility bill this month on time. Or any others you’ve let fall behind.
