Helderberg Indivisible holds drive for food and hygiene items
To the Editor:
Helderberg Indivisible will collect food and much needed personal hygiene items and non-food items for food pantries in Altamont and the Hilltowns from Aug. 23 to 31.
In Altamont, donation boxes will be at Agway, Re-Nue Spa, Stewart’s, Main Street Café, The Spinning Room, Altamont Free Library, Remedies Wine & Spirits, and Phillips Hardware at routes 146 and 158. In the Hilltowns, there will be donation boxes at Dollar General on Route 443 and True Value on Route 443.
The food items needed include rice, pasta, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, hot and cold cereal, and shelf-stable meals. Requested canned goods include meats and fish, fruits and vegetables, soups and stews, and Spaghettios and ravioli like Chef Boyardee.
There is always a need for hygiene items including shampoo and conditioner, bar soap, razors, toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, Band-Aids, tampons and pads, menstrual cups, and incontinence pads like Depends. Cleaning supplies people need include laundry detergent, dish soap, sponges, and Multi-Surface cleaner.
Little kids need diapers, especially sizes 5 and 6, pull-ups, individually wrapped snacks, and juice boxes.
Pet owners are always grateful for donations of pet food.
