Man with stay-away order charged with Christmas Day robbery, harassment

NEW SCOTLAND — At noon on Christmas Day, state troopers were called to a Voorheesville home for a dispute, which led to an arrest on Jan. 3 of a New Scotland man for robbery, larceny, and harassment.

Shandell L. Scott, 32, “struck and forcibly took multiple items from the victim,” according to a Jan. 6 release from the State Police. “The incident occurred while an active stay-away order of protection was in effect against Scott, protecting the victim.”

Scott, who surrendered himself to the State Police in New Scotland, was charged with third-degree robbery, fourth-degree grand larceny, first-degree criminal contempt, aggravated family offense, petit larceny, and second-degree harassment.

Scott was arraigned at the New Scotland Town Court and remanded to Albany County’s jail without bail.
