Altamont Enterprise August 25, 1922
VILLAGE NOTES
— Tuesday night fire destroyed the old house on the Benjamin Crounse farm, north of the village. The blaze was first seen at about 11:45, and the building was entirely consumed in less than an hour. A large number of Altamont people were on the scene in a short time. The house had been unoccupied for several years, and was falling to pieces. It is estimated that the building was nearly a hundred years old. No one knows how the fire originated. Last December the barn on the property was burned, under similar mysterious circumstances.
— The Altamont Motor Sales company report that they sold yesterday three Chevrolets, making six this week. This exhausts their present supply. More coming, but it would be wise to place your order now if you want to share in the next consignment they receive.
— Altamont was visited Wednesday afternoon by over 25 auto loads of Odd Fellows and their wives, who were on a ride from Albany, where they had been attending the sessions of the State Odd Fellows convention. The party halted for refreshments, then continued their journey down the Voorheesville state road. Some of the cars were decorated in the colors of the order.
