Howard D. Salsburg Jr. of Schenectady, a loving husband and father, died on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at the Hospice of the Upstate Rainey House in Anderson, South Carolina after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and lung disease. He was 80.

“Howard loved fishing, especially with his sons,” his family wrote in a tribute. The tribute also described his wife, June McNicol Salsburg, as  “the love of his life.” They were married for 55 years, their union ending only with his death.

Mr. Salsburg was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Schenectady.

He is survived by his wife, June McNicol Salsburg, daughters Bernadette Bates and Charlene Sarchioto and her husband, Joe; sons Robert Salsburg and his wife, Brenda, and Michael Salsburg; daughter-in-law Catie (Salsburg) Mason; six grandchildren, Matthew, Ronald Jr., Joshua, Brian, Christina, and Alex; and seven great-grandchildren, Alexa, Haley, Charity, Athena, Jacob, Landon, and Madisyn.

Mr. Salsburg’s son, Ronald Salsburg Sr., died before him, as did his parents, Howard and Louisa Salsburg, and his siblings, Loretta Ives and Myron Salsburg.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
