To the Editor:
Just three days to the Memorial Day Parade — on Sunday, May 22, at 2 p.m.

The parade committee is planning on a fitting tribute to all those wonderful veterans who gave their lives so that we are all free to live ours.

The parade starts at 2 p.m. from the main gate at the Altamont fairgrounds, with village veteran supporter Cindy Pollard as grand Marshal. We will follow the traditional route, culminating at Orsini Park.

There will be a brief and very moving tribute to our veterans and our flag presented by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts.

After our program, there will be a community picnic with hotdogs provided by the Altamont Fire Company, and drinks and ice cream donated by Stewart’s. Music and games will top off the day!

We hope everyone will fly their flag proudly in memory of our hometown heroes — see you Sunday!
