EAST BERNE — Priscilla Schaap of East Berne, a baker and cake decorator who loved her family, died peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2022, at St. Peter’s Hospital. She was 64.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1957, to the late Morris and Anna Willsey of Berne.

“Priscilla attended Berne-Knox-Westerlo schools before becoming a baker and cake decorator much of her life,” her family wrote in a tribute, “to include working at Altamont Orchards, Grand Union, and Hannaford.

“Her work schedule meant early wake-ups and long hours to provide for her children. She enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, animals, and the outdoors.”

Surviving is her soulmate and life partner of 34 years, Edward Pogoda; her daughter, Lisa Schaap; her son, Jason Schaap; her siblings, Daniel Gunville, William Willsey, Rachel Haley, David Willsey, and Karen Murrell; and 19 grandchildren.

There will be no services.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
