Christina Van Aernam, widow of the late Henry Van Aernam, died at the home of her son, Jacob Van Aernam, in Altamont, on Tuesday, April 18, aged 83 years.
Mrs. Van Aernam had been in remarkably good health until about two weeks ago, when she had an attack of heart trouble and later suffered a severe stroke of paralysis in her right side from which she did not rally. She was a faithful and consistent member of the Altamont Reformed church, and was always active in all branches of the church until a few years ago when failing health prevented her participation in such activities.

VILLAGE NOTES
This has been “clean-up” week in Altamont. The street commissioner, S. C. Crounse, has been cleaning up the streets, and has had trucks taking away the rubbish gathered together by the citizens who have dug into backyard corners and cellars for rubbish of all kinds. The work is not yet completed, but great progress has been made. The Boy Scouts were busy tidying up the village park one day this week. Clean-up Week should be only a beginning of work which should be done every week during the warm months. Let every week be Clean-up Week.
