President Biden presents a clear break from President Trump

To the Editor:
As of the moment, the average price of a gallon of gas in the Capital Region is $4.23, according to the American Automobile Association. On Nov. 1, 2020, the price of that gallon here was $2.22.

Republican President Donald Trump had made too many mean tweets. Trump was warlike, bombastic, and much too self-assured. Remember, he’d been banned from several social-media sites, because he posted cruel things.

Trump had threatened the environment by expanding affordable domestic energy production, approving pipelines, and opening new areas to drilling. He dropped Massive Ordnance Air Blast bombs, one near North Korea, and the other on the Taliban in Afghanistan!

Trump was dangerous, as our media and Democrats reminded us often. Intolerant Trump acted to decrease illegal immigration to the United States.

He had even dared to demand that North Atlantic Treaty Organization members meet the defense spending commitments that they had made and then had persistently failed to meet. This angered our NATO allies, and pushed them away from us, and into the arms of Russia.

Russia had his number and, though no one had proven it, no one needed to prove it. The hint of scandal was enough. Trump had to go.

On the first Tuesday of November 2020, America elected Democrat Joe Biden to be our next president. He had campaigned as the anti-Trump to win. If Trump was for it, Biden campaigned against it shrewdly, from his basement, without reporters present and asking questions because of COVID.

Biden opposed expanding affordable U.S. domestic energy production, and sought to curtail it with executive orders once in office. He acted to stop pipelines and closed areas to drilling. Biden planned and executed the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, which demonstrated his savvy and foresight.

He acted to undo Trump's racist enforcement of our border. Biden would not need to drop Massive Ordnance Air Blast bombs to demonstrate his warlike tendencies to potential enemies. He was so tough that he did not need to demonstrate that toughness.

Biden knew how to handle Putin. He would ask Putin to increase energy exports to the U.S., to offset the domestic production cuts that Biden’s own policies and actions had caused. Putin would refuse, as would OPEC [Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries], before Putin invaded Ukraine and began killing women and children.

Biden adroitly borrowed money to send stimulus payments to stimulate the economy. Communist Chinese products shipped here sit at sea on ships, waiting to unload their cargoes at undermanned U.S. port facilities, before they head home empty to communist China.

Biden may stutter, stammer, meander, wander, and forget what he was saying, but he doesn’t send mean tweets!

President Biden presents a clear break from President Trump. In this election year, you are better off now, than you were under Trump, right?
