Popularity of curling continues to grow

To the Editor:
I enjoyed your story about the curling club in Guilderland [“For Kathy Bentley, curling is about making friends as much as winning,” The Altamont Enterprise, Jan. 6, 2022].

It is a “best-kept secret”! I had never heard about it until my stepson, Aaron Bailey, started attending some years ago. Through his participation, I found out that there is also curling locally in Schenectady and at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy.

He went on to join the team in college at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, where they went to nationals and won second place in 2019. The popularity of this sport continues to grow in the United States following the televised Olympic coverage.
