Timothy John Simmons

GALLUPVILLE — “On Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, a beautiful light went out with the passing of 42-year-old Timothy John Simmons,” his family wrote in a tribute.

“A lifelong resident of Gallupville, Tim loved spending time with his family and others he loved and those who loved him back,” the tribute said.

“He was a never-ending fountain of knowledge who contributed the most interesting thoughts to any conversation. He loved being outdoors and loved country living. He never met a person in need who he didn’t help with a gift of his time, assistance with a task, or plain old cash.

“Left with broken hearts are his fiancée Jen Woodard; his parents, Bill and Karen Simmons; his brother Shawn Simmons, sister-in-law, Kristen Simmons; brother Justin Simmons; sister-in-law Jamie Simmons; and his beloved nephews and niece Nathaniel, Brianna, and Gavin Simmons.

“He was a loving uncle who thought of the kids as his own. Tim’s most treasured love was his dog, Gus, who misses his dad terribly.”

Calling hours will take place Sunday, Dec. 12, from noon to 1 p.m. at Reilly Funeral Home in Voorheesville followed by a prayer service.  A celebration of life will be held at the Voorheesville Rod and Gun Club immediately following. Masks are required regardless of vaccination.

Memorial messages may be left at www.altamontenterprise.com/milestones.

“The family would like to thank the incredible ICU staff at St. Peter’s Hospital for the care and kindness shown to Tim and his family over the last several weeks,” the tribute said. “As his last selfless act, Tim asks those who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 to reconsider their decision and help save lives.

“In continuation of Tim’s devotion to his nephews and niece, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the education funds he started for Nathaniel, Brianna and Gavin Simmons. Donations can be made online at: bit.ly/3DvKZg7.”
