GUILDERLAND — Lucette Lafferty (née Millman) Scholer, a hardworking and caring woman, died on Nov. 30, 2014. She was 78.

“Absent from the body, present with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” wrote her family of her death.

Mrs. Scholer was born on July 29, 1936, in Hudson, the daughter of the late A. George and Louise Bouvier Millman.

She graduated from Columbia High School in 1954, and worked for the New York State Thruway Authority for 22 years, before she retired in 1999.

She was a member of the Voorheesville American Legion Auxiliary Post 1493, was a volunteer with Community Caregivers and the Literacy Volunteers of America, and was very active with her class reunion committees over the years.

She was a great baker, said her daughter-in-law, Kim Scholer, and her specialty was strawberry shortcake.

She loved the outdoors, especially camping, and decorated her home with an overabundance of flowers.

“She worked really hard all her life to have what she had,” said her daughter-in-law. “She was so giving and would do anything for anyone.”
