KNOX — Janet Marie Finke died peacefully at her home on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, after a long illness. She was 62.

“Janet was known and loved for her caring heart and always seeing something good in everything and everybody,” her family wrote in a tribute.

She was born on June 24, 1958 in Bethpage, New York to Robert and Elizabeth Schneider. She graduated from Massapequa High School and the State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill College with a business degree.

She served careers at General Electric, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Factory Automation & Computer Technology, until devoting her life to caring for her family and raising her children.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, John Finke, their daughter, Heather Gardner, and her husband, Eric, and her cherished grandson, Luke, of Knox. She is also survived by her son, Jared Finke, and his wife, Dana, of Delmar.

She is survived, too, by her mother, Betty Schneider, of New Port Richey, Florida, as well as her niece, Dominique Burdi, and nephew, Alex Burdi, of Long Island, New York.

“The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the many friends and caregivers who helped Janet and our family through all of her care needs the past five-and-a-half years,” the tribute said. “A special thanks to Tina Passino who has been with us, providing and coordinating home care as well as friendship since the beginning of this journey.”
