Michelle Hinchey’s failure to vote is troubling
To the Editor:
Michelle Hinchey, who wants to be a State Senator, has an appalling voting record. She rarely voted prior to running for State Senator. Ms. Hinchey never voted in 2007, 2009, and 2011 in Ulster County. Ms. Hinchey lived in New York City from 2011 to 2016 …. In 2017, Ms. Hinchey moved back to Ulster County and, again, no record of her vote.
In June 2018, there was an important Democratic primary for the 19th New York Congressional seat, and again Ms. Hinchey failed to vote. In February 2018, there was a very important special election for the 102nd Assembly District seat, where the Democratic candidate lost by a small number of votes, and again Ms. Hinchey failed to vote! Ms. Hinchey never voted in a presidential primary before 2020.
Ms. Hinchey, despite coming from a political family, has shown very little interest in participating in our democracy. Michelle Hinchey’s failure to vote is troubling, and women had to fight for this right! Ms. Hinchey’s lack of action clearly shows she is not ready to be a State Senator.
Michelle Hinchey’s voting record was received from the Ulster County Board of Elections. This is public information, so anyone can confirm this by contacting the Ulster County Board of Elections.

Editor’s note: Maria Walski is the wife of Gary Greenberg, a write-in candidate for State Senate District 46. Michelle Hinchey’s campaign bankrolled a successful attempt to have Greenberg tossed off the Democratic Party’s primary ballot in June.
Ashley Dittus, the Democratic commissioner for the Ulster County Board of Elections, responded to the Enterprise’s inquiry about Michelle Hinchey’s voting record in Ulster County, confirming the missed dates, with this information, “For the Ulster records we have a purged record which was active between 2005 to 2013 where on 6/25/2013 Michelle Hinchey was purged because she moved her voter record.
“The voter history on that previous record was: General Election 2005, General Election 2006, General Election 2008, General Election 2010, Federal Primary 2012 and General Election 2012.
“Pretty consistent, if not higher than average for someone in their early late teens/early 20s from what I have seen from voters in the age range.
“She then registered again on March 28, 2017 in Ulster County, which is the current active record on file. The voter history for that was: Primary Election 2018, General Election 2018, Special Election 2019, General Election 2019, Primary Election 2020.”
The Enterprise asked Michelle Hinchey for a response and received this from Jesse Meyer, “The letter writer is likely Maria Walski, who is the wife of Gary Greenberg and has not been identifying herself in other publications. These allegations are a baseless attack that Gary Greenberg has been pushing for months — and ones that the Times Union found to not be worthy of publication. Michelle missed the 2017 election that occured within the weeks of her father’s passing.”
