Ardelle M. Spawn

ALTAMONT — Ardelle M. (née Gordon) Spawn, of Altamont, died peacefully at her son’s home on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020, after a long battle with dementia. She was 76.

She was born on Oct. 12,1943, the daughter of the late Stanley Gordon and Katherine (née Kniskern) Gordon of Central Bridge.

She graduated from Schoharie Central High School in 1962. She worked at the State Education Department in Albany and at the Guilderland Central School District Transportation Office. She was a founding member of the Western Turnpike Rescue Squad Station 2.

“She loved camping, fishing, smoking cigars, classic country music, and gardening,” her family wrote in a tribute.

She is survived by her son, Neil R. Spawn; by her daughter-in-law Robin (née Rinaldi) Spawn; by her brother, Ariel Gordon, and his wife, Shirley; by her close friend Jerry Duda; and by her forever fur baby Lily.

Her ex-husband, Richard E. Spawn, died in 2009; her son Rick Spawn died in 2010; her daughter-in- law Pam (née White) Spawn died in 2020.

“A special thank you to her true great friend Annie Walker,” her family wrote.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland.

Due to COVID-19, mourners are asked to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.

  • ALTAMONT — Doreen M. Reinemann, who ran a consignment shop and liked taking care of people, died peacefully at her Altamont home on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025. She was 72.

    Born on Aug. 29, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Marion (née Westervelt) Reinemann.
