A nation of political correctness and intellectual idiots

To the Editor,

It is with some degree of regret that I feel I must write this letter. Only time will tell. For whatever reason, this nation, over the years but most recently, has become a nation of political correctness and intellectual idiots.

To support the foregoing, I was sitting on a warship in the Mediterranean in the 1940s and personally heard Joe Stalin of Russia say we will never engage the United States military, because they destroy themselves through their political and educational system.

He may have been right. Our children today, and I’ll use my own family as an example, don’t become adults until they’re in their twenties or later. They have no idea as to what the future may or may not hold. An early sense of responsibility doesn’t exist. I’ll use myself and my childhood as an example. I was milking cows at the farm when I was seven, cutting corn with a team of horses when I was twelve, and working in a wallpaper mill when I was 14. This may sound like I’m bragging, but I’m not. Others were doing the same thing. I recently tried to find a teenager to mow the lawn. I couldn’t. They either didn’t know how to or they didn’t want to work.

It is a sorry indication of disintegrating society. I may regret writing this, but truth is stranger than fiction.
