Yelling to the governor: A protester, holding a bullhorn and an American flag, shouts up the Capitol stairs on Saturday afternoon. She has a satchel slung over her shoulder that says “The New York Douche Bag” with a picture of Andrew Cuomo. Some protesters were yelling “Cuomo...come out and play” and “Come on Andy, let’s talk” along with expletives. The governor did not respond. A recent Siena poll showed that 87 percent of New Yorkers approve of Cuomo’s handling of the pandemic.

Dr. Death: Dressed as the grim reaper, a protester walks around the front of the Capitol on Saturday afternoon with a sign that says, “Dr. Death Cuomo kills over 5,400 seniors in nursing homes.” The governor last week ordered twice-weekly diagnostic COVID-19 testing for staff and residents of nursing homes, which have been a hotspot for deaths across the country and around the world.

A mother-daughter duo protests at the OpenNY rally in Albany on Saturday. The daughter wants to quarantine people over 65, not everyone, while her mother wants to get back to the “real” normal, not the “new” normal. Half of the 10 regions in the state met the metrics to begin the first phase of reopening on Friday, May 15.
