Amedore invites nominations for Women of Distinction

State Senator George Amedore asks residents throughout the 46th Senate District to submit nominations for the Senate’s 2020 Women of Distinction awards ceremony, an annual celebration that recognizes women who have made outstanding contributions to their communities.

Betty Filkins of Westerlo was chosen for the honor in 2017.

The 46th District comprises Montgomery and Greene counties and parts of Albany, Schenectady, and Ulster counties. (The district includes all or part of these towns in Albany County: Guilderland, New Scotland, Coeymans, and the Hilltowns of Berne, Knox, Rensselaerville, and Westerlo.)

One honoree from the 46th District will be recognized at a May 5 ceremony in Albany, along with honorees from throughout the rest of the state. A special exhibit featuring the honorees will be on display in the Legislative Office Building for the event.

Previous honorees at the annual event have included leading women from various industries, including business women, leaders in academics and civic arenas, those who have performed heroic acts, or those who have persevered and demonstrated personal excellence in the face of adversity.

To make a nomination for this year’s Women of Distinction ceremony, visit Amedore’s website at www.amedore.nysenate.gov. Nominations must be received by April 1.
