Staff member at Albany Medical College tests positive for COVID-19

An Albany Medical College staff member has been diagnosed with COVID-19 resulting from exposure outside the facility, according to a March 16 release from Albany Med, which noted this is currently the only staff member with a confirmed case.

This individual works in an area not connected to patient care and is now under self-quarantine at home, the release said, and Albany Med is working with the Albany County Health Department to contact any colleagues who may have been in close contact with this staff member.

This staff member sought medical attention after experiencing symptoms of a respiratory infection and was tested, the release said, continuing, “It is imperative that any person with a fever and/or respiratory symptoms stay home and contact their primary care provider. Limiting exposure is critical to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.”
