Frederick “Fritz” Raymond John Herzog

VOORHEESVILLE — Frederick “Fritz” Raymond John Herzog, a father of five and grandfather of seven, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020. He was 85.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1956. He retired from the New York State Department of Transportation.

“He loved his family, hard work, and his yearly garden,” his family wrote in a tribute.

He is survived by his five children, John Herzog and his wife, Donna, Christina Russo and her husband, Rob, Joshua Herzog and his wife, Sarah, Jeffrey Herzog, and Sarah Ilowit and her husband, Isaiah; seven grandchildren, Caleb, Hanna, Caden, Eli, Brianna, Lily Belle, and Kailyn.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. at Fredendall Funeral Home at 199 Main Street in Altamont. A graveside service will take place on Friday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland.
