Freda R. Hartman

ALTAMONT — Freda R. Hartman, the oldest active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019. She was 96.

She was born to the late William and Elizabeth (née Loechel) Reineck in Albany on Jan. 21, 1923.

Mrs. Hartman worked as a secretary for Tobin’s Meat and Packing Company until it closed. 

She participated in the Lutheran Church Women’s Group, Bible study, and altar guild. She enjoyed attending the Altamont Seniors Group every Tuesday. 

She was married to Edgar Hartman for over 40 years. He died in 2009.

She is survived by her godson, two nephews, and several cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fredendall Funeral Home at 199 Main Street in Altamont. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct  5, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 140 Maple Ave. in Altamont

 Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery at 303 Sand Creek Road in Albany.
