James and Ruth Geier Roemer

EAST BERNE — James and Ruth Geier Roemer, a devoted couple, married for 75 years, both died last January. On May 18, their lives will be celebrated together.

James W. Roemer Sr. died on Jan. 17, 2019; he was 96. Ten days later, on Jan. 27, 2019, Ruth Geier Roemer died peacefully at home “from a broken heart,” her family said. She was 94.

“It was time for them to reunite and continue their very special love story,” their family wrote in a tribute.

All are invited to join the family in celebrating the lives of both Ruth and Jim Sr. on Saturday, May 18.  Interment with military honors will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Memory Gardens in Colonie.

Following the interment, a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for both Ruth and Jim Sr. will be held at 10:30 a.m. at McKownville United Methodist Church at 1565 Western Ave. in Guilderland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Reformed Church of Berne, 1664 Helderberg Trail, Berne, NY 12023.
